Raised in a Christian home vs. not?
Monday January 9th 2012All of us have been raised differently, but in the church therde are basically two kinds of kids: kids who were raised as Christians and kids who were not. There are pros and cons to each situation but in the verses we studied today we are going to see the pros of being raised as a Christian.
In Romans 3:1-8, Paul gives three reasons why its a good thing to be raised as a Christian.
1. You're raised with the WORD! Awesome! if you're raised outside the walls of a christian home, you're not surrounded by the Godly principals contained in the Bible. In a Christian home you are shown God's Word, and you are encouraged to act upon it. Just reading the Bible, hiding it under your bed and forgetting about it is not good enough! God wants us to be on-the-edge fools for Him. God s looking for people who not only agree with him but also obey Him.
2. You have God's commitment. HE is faithful to YOU! In a Christian home, you are dedicated to the Lord by your parents with the support of your church and your friends, outside those walls that does not happen! With your parents teaching you and your elders or friends supporting you, there is no way to misunderstand the commitment that God has to you; you just know it. God is always there supporting you, even when you're a total flake! Because you are a total flake!
3. God makes sense in a nonsense world. When life confuses you at home, you get that God-centered view instead of that man-centered view. You only get to see the world as it is from a Godly perspective if you are taught and brought up in that way! Man's view of the world makes no sense, but God's view is perfect. His view has always been the same, and always will be the same; its absolute. God and His standards will not change, ever! So in a Christian home, we are taught about God's absoluteness, and that is just plain comforting.
You guys who have been raised in that Christian home, you need to realize how blessed you are. You have that Godly foundation in His word, you know those Godly teachings, and when you see the world around you, you're lucky to have that push to show people the sense that only God can make out of this crazy place.
Those of you who have not had that upbringing, you have a lot to catch up on! That's not a curse, but you do need to get a move on it. God has so much to give you, and it's up to you to find it on your own now.
Sometimes it's good for us to study our own lives and see where we are, where we've come from. If you guys feel up to it, post up on here about how you personally were raised and how that has either helped or harmed you. Make sure you focus on how you were either raised in a Christian home or not, and we could get some lightbulbs from this bloggityspot:)
As always, God bless!
